Have you ever wondered how a simple piece of wood can transform into a piece of history, into an illuminated memory? Today we want to take you behind the scenes of one of our most beloved creations: the Genoa Lantern Lamp.
Many of our customers come to us with an abstract idea, a heartfelt symbol, or a photo of a special place. Our challenge is to take that emotion and give it a physical, tangible, and luminous form.
The Idea: A Piece of Genoa at Home
It all started with an email from a client from an association looking for a special gift for a retiring member. They wanted something that would make him "smell the sea" every time he turned it on. The chosen symbol? The majestic Genoa Lantern, the city's iconic lighthouse, along with its historic coat of arms (the cross of St. George).
The Process: From Design to Cutting
The first phase is always digital design. This is where every detail counts. We had to study the unique silhouette of the Lantern, with its staircase and various levels, and faithfully reproduce it, but in a way that allowed light to pass through the carvings.
The next step was to integrate the coat of arms in a balanced way. We chose to color it with a special translucent red finish to make it stand out even when the light is off, creating a vibrant contrast with the natural wood.
Once the design was ready, the actual craftsmanship of the fir wood began. Each carving was executed with millimeter precision. After cutting, hours of manual sanding were dedicated to achieving a silky-smooth finish. Finally, the assembly of the internal LED circuit and the final lighting test.
The Result: A Lighthouse of Emotions
The moment we first turned on the lamp was magical. The warm internal light projected the silhouette of the lighthouse, creating an intimate and welcoming atmosphere. The red coat of arms stood out proudly. It was no longer just a piece of wood, but a piece of Genoa that shone.
When the client saw the photos of the finished lamp, they wrote to us: "It's even more beautiful than I imagined". This is our greatest satisfaction: exceeding our customers' expectations.
